Successes in Telemedicine - Caring for Patients in the Home, 2021 Anne C. Sonis Memorial Lecture, Part of the Dr. Loren Roth Quality and Patient Safety Speaker Series (Roth Sonis Telehealth 21)
As the onslaught of COVID-19 unfolded in early 2020, so did the rapid use of telehealth to promote a safer way to care for UPMC patients during the pandemic. Yes, telehealth was used prior to the pandemic, but the prevalence of its use over the last year, because of the pandemic, has grown leaps and bounds.
This course explores clinical, societal, and technological implications of using telehealth from a national and local level to safely treat or monitor patients while in their own homes. Joseph C. Kvedar, MD, of Mass General Brigham and current president of the American Telehealth Association, will address the use of telehealth across the continuum followed by Richard J. Wadas MD, FACEP, FAEMS and Robert Bart, MD presenting how the use of telemedicine revolutionized remote care at UPMC during the pandemic.
